do you believe?

Quietly I laid in my bed and began to think of a dream I'd like to have that night, (you know you do it too). I began to drift off and than a small voice says, "Are you looking?" I look over my shoulder and see my little sister staring at the window intently.

"Santa might come by tonight and I want to see him. Keep looking, he's close, I bet."

"Santa?" I say, just as excited.

"Yeah! I think I just saw his elves. You see those little people outside the window? Those are elves."

some moments went when some light shone through our window. She giggled with delight as the shadows presented themselves in magical shapes.

"I think he's here! Santa is at our house! Oh, do you hear that? He's doing the dishes with mum and dad."

That, my friends, is Christmas spirit. It's children like Sarah who give the umph to Christmas. I almost decided Christmas was going to be the let-down it has been for years. I had this conversation last night and knew otherwise that this Christmas is going to be delightful.

I love Christmas with a passion and Sarah shares this passion with me. You often hear us belting Christmas carols together around the house. At night, we make ourselves a hot cup of chocolate or tea, put on warm socks and read a Christmas book together as we snuggle in a blanket. When everyone has gone to bed, we make "secret plans" as to how we're going to make Christmas the best. We hang Christmas lights for our room and share just-me-and-you traditions together. And sometimes, we quietly watch for Santa outside our window, because 'tis the season.

Go outside sometime this season and watch for reindeer in the sky. Write a letter to Santa Claus. Play in the snow. Just believe. I dare you.
