This happens to me a lot: I walk into wal*mart, grab a cart and realize 10 seconds later that my cart is the loudest one around. ev'rytime. It's like a curse. Until recently I have found it to be otherwise. I always end up with the loudest and squeakiest cart at wal*mart and I would dread every second. I accept the fact now. Yes, it was awkward with every corner you turn to have a million new heads it seemed stop and stare. Of course, you look like a freak. How do I cope with such circumstances? I smile and give a quick nod, sometimes even a wink, you know. It's better than hiding your face in shame. Plus the wink forces them to look another way. I don't know what it is, people freak out when they're winked at. Gets 'em every time. Their looks are hard to pin down. It's a mix of confusion, embarrassment for myself, maybe a hint of annoyance? I don't know. But let's get real people, it's jealously. period. you know cool people push around the squeaky shopping carts.
Now ev'rytime I go to wal*mart I go out of my way to find the loudest cart in the bunch. I'm sure with my frequent visits to that store, people will begin to recognize me; "Oh look honey, there's that girl I was telling you about, you know, the loud one. Oh careful, don't make eye contact, she might wink at you." So now everytime you're at wal*mart and you hear loud, squeaky wheels racing down the aisles, chances are...that's me.
See ya around cupcake.

Every one of us has a Freak Flag...let it fly proudly, I say!! Plus, if you OWN it (whatever the freak-feature is that you have) no one else can hassle you for it.
Trust me, I should know this! ;)
PS--I think you are terrific, my dear!
